Happening right now

In life, you will know many people, many days, many places.

Some places, you will just pass through, on your journey to somewhere better.

Some places, you will linger, either deliberately because it is where you feel that you belong or because you are not quite ready to leave yet.

Every place is like a small patch on a quilt, some larger than others, and some more inspiring or unique; but when you weave them all together, you can see that each place had its purpose in completing the final artwork that is your life.

We meet many people in each of these places; some, great friends, some who just seem to exist to make our lives harder. Some people who are there for only a moment, but they seem to act as an angel, as they give us something we need right as we need it. There are also the people who cling on for far too long and without any great payoff. As we are going about our daily journey, we forget that every person, no matter how fleeting, or alternatively, how significant, has their own story, and how every interaction we share has the opportunity to shape their story, and more importantly, our own.

Some of us have few days to live these experiences, while some of us may have many. The only common thing we all share is we do not know the number of days we have. While that is a frightening thought, it is also a very meaningful thing to know. Each place we pass through and each person we meet, will leave an impact on us forever. A story has many chapters, locations, and characters; as we read from afar, we feel the impact of each moment.

In our day-to-day, it is sometimes hard to take a step back and see beyond the drudgery of life, to feel something as it comes at you. But we need to try, otherwise all we do is feel the daily slog and look back on our memories or dream of what’s to come, without ever realizing, our life is happening right now.
